20Something and Surviving

Men and Women, Are Not The Same, …

… I thought you ought to know
Men and women
Are not the same
No no no …
(Men and Women- Norah Jones)

I think I may have a problem. I actually enjoy being really busy. I’m starting to enjoy my work again.

Usually I get a job and the first month is really new and exciting and I love my new job but that soon wears off and I’m left with feelings of boredom and being unchallenged. Once I have gained proper understanding of what I’m supposed to do and start doing it well then its instant dislike for that occupation. But now it seems as if I have gotten my second wind. Anyway more about me…

I’ve gone on about the difference in men and women and the pros and cons in having both as friends. My two bestest friends (although I may be getting old for such trivialities) are female. And as I’ve said its not always a good thing. On occasion, like yesterday, I wish that was different.

My male mates never call unless it’s to announce what time we’re doing a booze run or are going to convene for our weekly sport watching ritual. Clichéd but there’s a reason things are clichéd. We talk about generic things, barely feign a passing interest in each other’s lives and the only discussion around the other half of the species centres around lewd sexual comments. Fun times.
On the other hand, I can expect daily calls from my female sirens wanting to wail on about… you guessed it, men. They an to chat and lament about what dogs we are and how e don’t know what we want, we cant communicate and is it my opinion that the relationship ends?
Basically: “I can’t stand it any more, he’s driving me crazy, I’m gonna dump his ass. What do you think Leez?”

I’ve learnt to keep my mouth shut or reduce answers to slight murmurs. Because I know that once that time of the month has passed, anything I say will come back to bite me in the arse. Its impossible to give any sort of advice or input to anyone that only wants someone, anyone on the other line. Before they even thought of calling me they had decided on what they were going to do. I was just the conduit, albeit a silent one, to their self-affirmation.

Most calls for my male buds lat between thirty seconds to a minute. Max. All calls form my dearest lovelies could last between 15 minutes to half an hour. And No, I’m not generalising; it’s based on personal experience.

So which make better friends? Once again, its not whether they’re male or female but whether they’re loyal or trustworthy or charming enough that you forgive them it they aren’t.

That’s just me.

Leez.

  1. As a girl (you may have noticed, I is one of them) I seem to have a lot more male ‘friends’, since I don’t actually make a good girlfriend. The 30 sec phone call and lets meet for a drink and talk of trivial stuff suits me lots better.
As much as I love my girlfriends, I find it such hard work!!!
That said though, I do try to be a good friend in general.. at least, I hope so, lol!

  3. Leez, I’m amazed you have female friends if you make remaks about ‘that time of the month”. Personally, I’d kill you. But I hear you on giving advice. It’s like if someone asks you for directions while you’re driving together – rather say you don’t know how to get somewhere than take the blame when you all get lost!

  5. lol. Okay…

Swiss: they are hard work, but if you want to remain friends then its worth it. As for the layout its completely by accident. I was fooling around and couldn’t fix it. it is nice though.

Tamara: Sorry If I offended but its true and none of my friends
deny it. its actually used as an excuse.

Sweets: Not ALL women and not ALL men. Just my men and women. 😉

    JustB: Thank you!!!!

  8. Dude only half an hour? You’re getting off lightly! Jailbait and I often have phone calls that last over an hour and a half!

But you are so right, girls give each other daily updates on things and LOVE talking on the phone. So different to boys.

Though Jailbait does seem to love talking on the phone too …
