20Something and Surviving

I sometimes wonder why is it that relatively sane people who finally, stupidly, feel secure enough in their own relationships decide to exact that punishment on others? Just a question.

Why do these people deem it necessary to try and play matchmaker? Why do they think that there is something wrong with being in your twenties and being single? Can they honestly not remember that a short while ago they too were single and were “fine” with it?  What compels someone to invite you over only to subject you to a few hours of strained conversation and obvious discomfort from both unexpected parties?

The hints are inane, the deliberate slips are obvious and the smug winks are downright irritating. But sometimes life can surprise you. And it is not an all to unpleasant surprise. Just saying.

Its actually quite flattering, come to think of it, that your friends think that you and some hot, intelligent and witty specimen actually look good and could work well together. I mean yes it’s a bit disconcerting to be thrown off guard and you have to really be on your toes not to come across as a drunken leering slush but once everyone has a few drinks conversation flows oh so much easier. So I’ve learnt.

Happy Birthday C, and thanks for a great party. And the great, if unexpected, date.

Slush? Lol, was that intentional? Isn’t it meant to be Lush?

  5. ha ha ha – Glad you had a good matchmaking experience – When i was single my coupled friends tried to play matchmaker with me once or twice with not very good results (ok, thats putting it mildly)

I thought the effort was awesome though. Hey, at least they cared enough to try 🙂

  6. This isn’t the first time but usually I get some sort of warning. C can never keep a secret. She suffers from Diahorrea of the mouth.

But this time I was delightfully surprised. ANd thats all i’m saying. A gentleman never kisses and tells… but then again I aint no gentleman.
